Update on package peer review
- 35 accepted, 16 in review, 2 presubmissions.
- Packages are staying in the review stage longer. Now that more packages have been through review, there’s an opportunity to re-visit the peer review process, and identify which are the most important items and which might be more streamlined.
Update on training and events
- Received positive feedback on PyCon sprint on LinkedIn, months after the event.
- Fall Festival is an opportunity to pilot a larger event approach versus smaller ones for sustainability planning and access for learners.
Updates on online resources
- Engagement on packaging guide continues to be high.
- A donation page is now live, through Community Initiatives donation platform.
Discussion of funding opportunities within government programs and private foundations and through training events or short-form videos.

- 34 accepted packages, 17 in review, 3 presubmission.
- Review dashboard is a work-in-progress, now available on the website.
Update on training and events
- SciPy workshop went well. Things ran smoothly and there was positive feedback. Feedback will be incorporated into future events.
- Fall Festival is scheduled for Oct 28 - Nov 1. It will be a mix of free and paid talks and workshops.
Updates on online resources
- Growth in visits to pyOpenSci website and resources over the last year.
- The packaging guide is the most visited.
- Active work from the community on translations of the packaging guide into Japanese and Spanish.
Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 July 2024 - June 2025 approved.
- Summary budgets will be shared publicly as a part of yearly reporting.

Update on package peer review
- 17 packages in active review
- Things are generally going well, but we might need to do something to expand capacity.
Update on training and events
- First workshop went well, lots of good feedback; some technical issues that are now solved
- Working to identify topic(s) for next workshop with this format
- At scale training event in August that will run on Discord
- Open source / open science event in Sept / Oct using gather, branded “Fall Festival”; paid event, looking for sponsors
Created strategy for sharing meeting notes publicly.
- Tracy will create meeting minutes from meeting notes, share for review and approval from Karen.
- We’ll publish the approved meeting minutes in the governance section of the handbook.
pyOpenSci will begin to create an annual report each year.
- We’ll start with a report for 2023, beginning to draft in July.
- The report will be an interesting-to-read brief overview of the organization and its activities for the year.
